The Camera Drama and Payoff

The whole original camera purchase thing turned out to be the most craziest debacle. Heres what happened.

I ordered a Canon T3i- received a T6i by mistake.

Amazon says Keep it.

3rd Party seller says- Oh no, you better return it or else we come after you legally (this company was not so nice to say the least.) I try to be reasonable to pay the difference but they want an outrageous amount. The only way they will work with me is to schedule a Fed Ex pick up for me.

Amazon bad…we shouldn’t have told you to keep it. You have to return it.

Me- Come on..y’all both are messing with me. I already spent so much money on accessories for the T6i- and some things are not compatible with T3i…not to mention I am pretty strong on the gift illustration you don’t ask for it back LOL!

Amazon- Don’t worry we will find a way for you to keep the camera. Probably will pay the difference to the 3rd party. Will be in touch.

Me- Waiting confident in Amazon, buying more stuff for camera.

Amazon- Nope, sorry you have to return it after all, but here is a $100 credit.

Me-  imagesThat’s two times I was told keep it- then send it back.

Amazon says we will send you a new 6ti for the same money you paid for the 3Ti, then return the 3Ti.

I do, but when the additional amount was refund upon shipping, the customer service agent didn’t check off an important box and it triggered to stop my T6i purchase during shipping and returned it back to Amazon.

Me-a little mad at this point when I called back Amazon.

Amazon- made the weeks of back and forth drama right and sent me a brand new 6Ti for zero. I also got my money back for the original T3i purchase. Not only that but the new camera amazon sent  me, came with the 18-135 mm lens!

What an amazing happy ending thank God!! I am going to fully utilize this gift in any way I can to benefit my family and others.

One of best things I was able to purchase with my Ebay profits was a 50mm F1.8 lense.

Right now I am still teaching myself how to use it. I purchased the 50mm f1.4 to get that blury background look but I couldn’t figure out how to do it. The auto-focus was going crazy, I was thinking about returning it. I took so many shots of myself trying to get it and my daughter said, “Mom remember what Pastor Anderson said about taking so many selfies.” Ha! Ok so then I turned the camera on them. What helped me SO much was reading the reviews on the lens. A photographer wrote out what setting to use and I got it!

baby black and white

We had our own little photo shoot this morning. Some shots were good and some shots could qualify as Pinterest Photo Shoot fails ha!

The Good

The Bad

That amazon experience was a bit like the refiners fire- ha. But now I have an awesome payoff 🙂

These Are The Best Days of My Life

I don’t take it for granted how blessed I am. I know these are the best days of my life and I keep that in mind all the time. All my kids are safe, home with me and I get to spend their childhood with them. Today we started homeschooling officially again. We never really stop but we were waiting for some books and I was taking a break to get situated again. Josh and Genny started Life of Fred Apples. I wrote about it here.

The house little by little is taking on a new feeling and style. I love that the ways are decorated with scripture, an old KJV Bible leaf and these music sheets of a psalm we actually have been singing at church. The TV is not even plugged in and I like that there is not even the temptation to use the Netflix babysitter or get caught up myself in youtube videos. It’s been very peaceful. I ended up keeping that granny patch quilt blanket even though Joe says it doesn’t match but it makes me so happy! lol I will find  a home for it sooner or later. Hopefully this week we can paint the dinning area.

Here is the video I posted today for my ebay business. It is going really well. I have hopes of one day this really becoming more of a full time income/family business and can’t wait for the day I can pass off the task of taking pictures and listing items to the girls. We live in such a land of abundance, it truly is amazing.

I also posted for #modestmondays here. This shirt I found in the goodwill bins was brand new with the tags showing a crazy price from Steinmart. Things with tags sell for a lot more on ebay. However when I was doing the laundry (I wash everything I bring home of course) I forgot about this and ripped off the tag like all the other regular items with goodwill tags. I think I yelled, “Noooooooooo” for like 3 minutes. I have to list it as pre-owned I might as well wear it. So that’s the story behind that outfit.

Hope you have a great week!

Weekend Review

This weekend went by SO fast. For us the weekend is Thurs-Sat. We painted the living room, and got a new to us dinning table, yay! The house is starting to look so different and so much better! It’s amazing what a fresh coat of paint can do to a space. Next up is painting the dinning room.

day in life 117

We did a lot of yard work, grocery shopping, did go to a couple estate sales that was interesting, ate at our oldd favorite Maya’s Pizza in Mesa, and I did some filming for a couple videos being posted this week.

I have been playing around with my new camera and bought a few backgrounds for shooting videos. I couldn’t resist buying this one for the kids since I knew they would go crazy for having photoshoots with it.

I made a new video today for the Phx Family Blog about what I sold on ebay to serve kind of like a pricing/shipping tutorial. Check out that BLOG and video HERE.

Coding Wednesdays

Both Joe and I have our own things that we really want the kids involved in, and thankfully we both are on board with each others ideas. Joe would like the kids to be involved in some kind of organized sports so I am working on that this fall at our local Cesar Chavez Park..for now I am taking them to the skate park that I didn’t know was at our same park.

For me, I see the kids super enthused in learning how to code and I really want them to learn! I went to school for a little bit for it and I know the many opportunities it can bring your way, even without a college degree.

I was *so psyched* that our library one traffic light away, is having free coding classes every Wednesday.  From 10:30-11:30 is the little kid time (pictured below) but they let the big kids join in. Then we come back in the afternoon from 3:30-4:30pm for the big girls who have a class working on actual laptops.

We have a few books we have collected on teaching kids coding and I look forward to seeing what comes of it. What is something you really want your kids to learn?

Whatcha’ Reading?

I like that our Pastor encourages us to read books outside of the Bible, to keep learning new skills. Right now I am on a photography kick and while I know I can learn a lot from youtube videos..there is just something about books for me.

With videos I find it hard to focus. I always want to multi task which means I won’t pay much attention or get much out of it. Unless I force myself to just sit there and watch which is hard. When I listen to sermons I am always doing something else. However, when I am reading it forces me to tune everything else out and focus on the words on the paper and absorb them. I am a pretty fast reader but sometimes I wish I could just “download” the book into my mind when there is so much I want to read and so many people to take care of. Still I carve my time painfully here and there. I like that though when my kids see me reading a lot, they also read a lot. The house gets quieter and overall it’s a more peaceful atmosphere.

We are on an energy savings plan were we turn the a/c off from 3pm-6pm to get a much cheaper overall rate. Without this plan in our two story house in Phoenix…the bill would crush us. It’s not so bad. Since we have a library half a mile from us, we spend many afternoons there. I grew up with a library across the street and we practically loved there so of course I love it. Our library has a little kids area with a play kitchen and lots or puzzles and other toys, so that keep Sophie busy. I can sit in a chair next to her and read while the other kids take their time picking out books for me to look over if I approve.

This is my reading list…ha yes one of these is not like the others I know. Before you give me a hard time, I did read 16 chapters of my Bible today before the day started.  Here is a sermon on why Scientology is evil.

Obligatory Eclipse Post

If you know me well you know I am one of those persons that esteemeth every day a like. I would be happy never to have the pressure to celebrate another holiday or birthday. I am not a pinterest mom as much as I’d like to be. The same sentiment translates to special sky days..meteor showers..or in this case..the eclipse of the century or something. I didn’t make the cereal box viewing thing or looked for special glasses. In fact I forgot all about it until I wondered why it was so dark and cool in the middle of the morning and looked on fb (where I get all my news admittedly!)

I tried to just use my phone to take a picture to show my kids and probably messed up my camera in the process. Somethings not right with these pictures.

There’s an eclipse in my tree!

They were more interested in drawing with chalk while it was cooler.

I let them watch it live on youtube which worked out because I was on a mad woman cleaning and organizing mission of the entire downstairs. Everything got moved around and cleaned so it was a nice distraction while it lasted. While everyone was making their kids “Special Eclipse Lunches” I made my kids what I call a “deconstructed lunch.” They think it’s fun, like a lunchables. I also gave fruit and chips on the side so no worries- they had plenty of food but I was dishing it out quick to finish cleaning.

I moved my desk to the living room where the wi-fi is MUCH better. I had to. I LOVE that is right above my desk. It reminds me to keep it going.

I also made a letterboard myself and while it is very wonky, it works and I like to write motivating messages or something funny about what is going on at the moment.

Day in the Life- Saturday Edition

Me- Today…

3:00am wake up because I fell asleep without cleaning up the house the night before and Joe painted so it was really messy. I have this thing where I HAVE TO wake up to a clean and tidy house every morning. So I got up and swept, did the dishes, tidied up, put things away then blogged our anniversary pics.

5:00am Baby wakes up, I go back to get her back asleep and end up dozing off myself.

6:30am wake up and take a shower and get ready for the day.

7:00am Make a simple breakfast for family, hard boiled eggs, toast and smoothies (that ended up tasting not so good and no one drank them- too much Kale).

7:30am Packaged up a ton of packages that sold within the last 12 hours. Since it’s Saturday and I couldn’t schedule a pick up until Monday, I decided to drop off at the post office.

8:30am Leave for the Post Office with Joshua. Drop off all the packages and pick up the coupon inserts someone left inside- score!

9:00ish  Arrive at the Goodwill Clearance to scope out some new inventory and buy clothes for my kids. I scored great!! I couldn’t believe I found Lularoe there (1.49$ a lb only!) I filmed a little video of the haul for a post later. It was SUPER busy and chaotic as always..reminder to self- next time bring gloves. I kept saying in my head, “Don’t touch your face, don’t touch your face” as I kept scratching it. I know one of the things I bought would easily sell for the amount of everything I spent in that trip and other things will sell so I was a happy camper.

11:00am FINALLY have some coffee. I pretty much fast every day until lunch time but I at least have some coffee first but I forgot to have some earlier. Stopped at Dunkin to have my favorite Butter Pecan Coffee and now feel energized.

11:15am Stop at CVS to use said coupons from earlier to buy a foundation I wanted to try. My skin is crazy lately and I wanted to see if it was really that great for breakout, oily skin like the youtubers say.

11:30am Go grocery shopping at Safeway for a special lunch and dinner I wanted to make Joe and some things for the week.

12:15pm Arrive home finally and unload everything. Open up all the mail and saw that this came in, squeak! I love it!! My two favorite verses. Check out her page HERE>

12:45pm Serve the kids an easy lunch of sandwiches and pretzel sticks and fruit. Start the beans for dinner in the instapot.

1:15pm Get to work on the grownup lunch. I made Chinese Chicken Salad that Joe really likes with a complicated dressing and fried wonton strips that really is good.

1:45pm Sit down to eat lunch..I think this was the first and last time I sat down that day.

2:00pm Clean up kitchen lunch mess, take out beans and cook them on the stove with remainder ingredients (tried to copy Cafe Rio recipe).  Start the beef in the instapot for the shredded beef tacos for dinner (another copy cat recipe from Cafe Rio). Start the Rice in the rice cooker.

2:20pm Go upstairs and snuggle with baby and get her happy before I start ironing like crazy, the mountain that has accumulated. Somewhere along the line of never ironing I crossed over to wanting to iron everything.

3:30pm FINALLY finished ironing and putting all the clothes away with all the kids and switched more laundry from washer to dryer. Check on beef, add more ingredients and more time.

3:45pm Take another shower because this is Phoenix and it’s 105 and I’ve been running around like crazy and that “Big Stink Essential Oil Roller Ball” AIN’T cutting it like I thought it would.

4:00pm Get ready for soulwinning as fast as possible.

4:15pm Show Joe how to assemble the dinner I left ready.

4:20pm Drive the 20 min to the Soulwinning location and feeling pretty tired. I play what I call my “Get Psyched Mix” and get energized and ready to preach the Gospel. I practically know every word to that short sermon that keeps me encouraged to live a separated life, it is my #1 favorite.

4:45-5:00pm Meet up with the Team and then drive to the neighborhood we are going to. A trailer park, yay! After soulwinning in one of the riches neighborhoods I ever saw in Sacramento..I was so ready for a more humble area!

5:15ish- Start knocking doors. I give the Gospel in Spanish to 3 guys who were drinking on the porch but I thought still able to engage with me and did get what I was saying and 2 out of 3 agreed but no one wanted to get saved. The next door the lady gave the wrong answer for salvation and didn’t want to hear what I had to say but thanked me for talking to the men next door. She said she had been trying to invite them to church and they wouldn’t listen to her because she was their neighbor. It was odd, she didn’t want to hear it from me but was genuinely thanking me that I gave them the Gospel.

At one house we opened the gate to knock on the door and out came a little dog after us, we ran back and closed the gate and that dog buried under the gate and got out and still chased us. Dogs are the enemies of soulwinners for sure.

My soulwinning partner starts giving the Gospel to a man and some teens were blasting music in a car nearby, very distracting. I did what a silent partner should do and ran over to give them the Gospel so they had to turn down the music. They hear about 5 min before their mom came out and said they had to leave. Tried to give her the Gospel but only gave me time for one verse.

Finally my partner got a middle school girl saved (her grandma ger her permission to talk to her). Praise God, she got saved! It was obvious she seemed to have just gone through some traumatic event and I’m SO glad she got this assurance.

6:30pm We call it a night so we can go home and take care of our families. The guys soulwinning at this time stay a lot longer.

7:00pm I arrive home pretty beat. I see Joe and the kids cleaning up, so grateful for that! I take the baby upstairs and James and get them both dressed and ready to bed. Plead with the other kids to just go to bed and take showers and baths in the morning before church. It takes a while but I finally get the baby down to sleep.

8:30pm Last laundry switcharoo. Started a load of whites and put the things from the dryer away…laundry…always..lots…of laundry.

9:00pm Everyone is happy and settled upstairs. Joe goes to bed early because he wakes up at 4am on Sundays to work until 6pm. It’s not ideal but hopefully just temporary until he can get Sundays off. At least he is not traveling and can make it to church for the evening service. I go downstairs to have dinner. I eat a HUGE plate and a piece of cake sitting on the couch watching my youtube video subscriptions.

9:30pm Clean up the rest of the food that was still out, do the dishes and one last tidy up.

10:00pm Sit down to write this…and now I’m crashing!

Remember when weekends used to relazing? HA! We had a fun day yesterday so it all balances out.
