Top 5 Money Saving Places in Phoenix

8/6: 20% Off Local, Promo Code: FAST20

To kick off this new website, I am sharing with you my top 5 places in Phoenix that save me A LOT of money! These places not only save me money but also in general provide a better quality of life as I will explain below. If you like these post, let me know and I will do more of them.

American Discount-

By far this discount grocery store saved me money like no other place. You never know what you will find in there since the inventory changes pretty quickly. No need to clip coupons or download any apps, the prices are rock bottom on everything from organic food, conventional, non food items, and household goods.

There is only one location in Mesa and I make the drive from Laveen every couple weeks.  Hours are Monday – Saturday 8:00am to 8:00pm Closed Sundays

If you are wondering how the food is so economically priced, read HERE.

Alpine Valley Bakery-

Just a couple miles away from American Discount is another must check out place! Do not ever pay full price for Alpine Bread of Dave’s Killer Bread. Here you can find it for $1-3. I never pay more than $1 for a loaf and they have my favorite Dave’s Killer Bread White Done Right! They also have plenty of grainy, seedy, organic bread and other items as well. I love their carrott cakes and brownies, especially when they are marked down to $1 each!! If you can stand the crowd, go during their sales on Wed and Fri after noon. Most of the bread is reduced to just .50 cents a loaf! This is when I stock up for a couple weeks and it only cost me $12-15, you just can’t beat that for good store bought bread.

Goodwill Clearance-

This is the place to shop for clothes if you can take the heat and crowds. I made a whole video just on this shopping experience below that you can check out.

For those of you who skipped the video, you are missing out on some insider tips. This place can be chaotic but the savings are worth it. Clothing and household items go between $1.19 and $1.49 a lb heavier items like dishes sell for the lower amount and books have their own special pricing even lower.

Not only do I always score great deals on clothing and seasonal decor at this location but I have also turned it into a side business selling on ebay. If you are interested in that video, click HERE.

Unlike with other thrift stores that can be hit or miss, the inventory at the Goodwill Clearance changes out every 20-30 minutes. They clear one side while you shop on the other, then close that side and put out new bins on the other. I always walked away with at least some good finds.

Sale Sumo Liquidation Center-

As seen on TV, this place delivers the savings. You can check out the video we made for it below.

Anything and everything you can imagine for your home can be found here. There are no prices on anything so beware. You will need to bring your negotiation skills to the check out table which can be fun or terrifying depending on your personality, but always try to save some money.  It pays to do a little research on the items you are looking to pick up.

St. Mary’s Mobile Food Pantries-

If you are willing to stand in some lines, there is a bounty of food to be received thanks to all the hard work of the St. Mary’s organization. Several local grocery stores donate their perishable food items (think deli, bakery, produce, fresh bread and even pantry staples) to this organization, who then organizes it all to be distributed to several locations all over the valley. This is great because no matter what part of Phoenix you are in, there is a location near you offering FREE food. This is just on organization, there are many other. Chandler has their own, as do other surrounding suburbs. Over the last couple of years, this has helped our family really cut down on the grocery budget and I know it has been a blessing to other friends as well.

You can see the full schedule here.

So there you have it, my top 5 favorite money saving places but it was hard to choose. As a bonus I just want to add my favorite way that we have fun all year round without breaking the bank…POGO passes. One flat price you pay one time and it lasts you the whole year. There is something for everyone on this pass, you can see all the venues here.

Here is one of our favorite venues AZ Air Time.
