Story Stretchers- Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs Edition

I checked out this book from the library and it’s really fun. It gives all kinds of ideas and activities for favorite children’s books.

Today we picked Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. We read it first together.

Then I asked the kids to draw a picture of what they would like to rain down in the imaginary town of chewandswallow.

We then worked together to make mashed potatoes to mimic the “snow” at the end of the story and of course we had to have meatballs to go with it for lunch.

The littles scrubbed the potatoes, the big kids peeled and the instantpot cooked them!

One of the activities was to make boats out of cartons but I didn’t have enough, so they just made a fort instead.

There were a lot of suggestions but I had a very busy kitchen day so we cut it short there and just read other books more.

This is a great book, especially if you have young children and need direction to the day while they are too young to officially homeschool. As you can see though, even big kids like this!
