Amazing Books for Girls Compilation

I was recently told about this website, and wow!

There is SO much here, but I really LOVE the “Girls Books” page. If you signed up for the Kindle unlimited promotion on Prime day, you can find almost every single one of them to purchase for FREE.

If you do not have Kindle unlimited, don’t worry- because many of these are open source and available to read right here!

I especially love all the books about early american life, the women who came on the Mayflower, the women who wrote letters back home on their move out west and so on. It’s fascinating to me!

Check out the book list here!

DD 23/365 – Grammar-Land

We are still waiting for our new read aloud for the book club, so I picked this book for today. It is very clever how it teaches you grammar in a fun, story tale, way! It’s so old, it is available for free online.

I purchased mine on Amazon since it was so cheap and I love this little book. The kids after the first chapter wrote nouns on the white board and just having so much fun doing that. It’s amazing how simple things can be so much fun with a crowd of siblings.

We finished! DD22/365

We finally finished Unbroken. I realized I knew nothing about WW2 before. Sure, I knew facts…but I didn’t know people’s actual living accounts of suffering unimaginable things. This is something textbooks just cannot really convey.

We are not waiting for our next read aloud to arrive from Ebay. The Scarlet pimpernel! Who has read it? This will be the first time for us.

This was our second pic for the read aloud summer club. We had a nice big turn out which was so awesome! We had a great discussion time activities with friends. Being able to talk abotu books with friends who view the world in a similar lense filtered by the pretty awesome..just saying.

Dad is on vacation which has been nice since he joined us for our Unbroken Read Aloud Time. We made it to the last part wrapping up his life. We all learned so much about WW2 from this book!

I’m in Book Heaven! DD 20/365

I signed up for the promotion going on right now 4 months of Kindle Unlimited for $1 and WOW! I went through the Robinson Book list and extras, and I got about 90% for FREEEEEEEE!

If I can’t find a copy of these books, at least I know I have a backup easy to read option on my fire tablet. Many times there was an audio option add on for only $1.

I recommend you check it out, this makes me so HAPPY!

Last night I also made a mash up of Classical Conversation Cycles with G.A Henty books and also added a RC chronological order list to the FREE homeschool tab. The chronological order makes it very easy to pick an RC book for a family read aloud during whatever week I am comparing it with on CC.

These are the Kid Tablets we have, they are on sale today!

You can find all that here-

Documenting Delight 18/19

We have been trying to have fun with pancake art, that has been an invention. They would draw me what they wanted and I tried my best to recreate..yeah it was my own episode of nailed it!

We are in the part of unbroken dealing with “the bird” it’s awful. I have a new-found respect for WW2 veterans. Just because I don’t agree with the war motives..many of them were drafted and had no choice. It’s heart breaking the cost of greed in war. I think about all the life lost and it’s beyond words.

Documenting Delight 17/365

Today I am sad to say, I didn’t do any reading to my kids arg. It was grocery day and I was preparing a pernil for tomorrow and printing some books and catching up on laundry etc. One of those days.

It was just what I needed though to head off in the evening to hear one of my favorite authors speak, who is also a homeschooling mother of 6. It was SO good! Afterwards I took my time going home, enjoying just being alone (which is RARE) and headed to a bookstore. I bought some great classics I didn’t have yet, that were on clearance. Score!

As I got in the car to head home, I was a little sad at the thought I didn’t tuck my kids in. Surely my exhausted husband after a 12 hour work day, would not be in the mood to read to them. However when I got home, he informed me he did read to the kids one of their favorite books. It’s one of their absolute favorites I think, largely because of the voices Joe makes when he reads it. They crack up so hard! I think it’s sweet.
